About this tape:
Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere - Mission 00 (エースコンバット3エレクトロ
スフィア ミッションゼロ) was a promotional VHS tape released on June
5, 1999 to promote the then-recent release of Ace Combat 3:
Electrosphere in Japan.
This Japan-exclusive video allows players to peek into the world of
2040's Strangereal, a world dominated by two major corporations
seeking to seize power over the entirety of the Usean Federation.
Content of this Release:
There are two tapes transferred, unsurprisingly named Tape 1 and
Tape 2.
Both FM RF Archival transfers were made with the "CX Card Clockgen Mod" workflow
and are nearly identical in quality. Audio in HI-FI was also decoded from
an RF capture.
Tape 1 was also captured originally via a DdD board; it is included
because at the time the tape had less wear. Masters of this version
have the audio track muxed from tape1-run4.
Tape 1 on the legacy workflow has colours off, and an issue with high
frequencies around minutes 11–14. This problem is completely absent in
the RF capture.
Tape 2 on the legacy workflow has audio with no issues, but has
serious image stability problems. The image is completely stable and
usable using the RF capture.
TL;DR:
If you want to decode the files yourself and visualise the VBI data,
you need to download the content of either Tape 1 or Tape 2.
If you are happy with the decoded result, you can find the
uncompressed FFV1+FLAC media files in "Masters (Infrid)".
File names containing "QTGMC" have been deinterlaced and are the
advised final versions to download.
There is a compressed, upscaled 4K version; this is the advised file
to upload to streaming platforms. The high resolution is meant to
preserve the details.
